Speed Dating Explained
Speed dating has become very popular, both online and offline. Speed dating
allows you to have several short dates in one day or evening, so that you
can find people with whom you would like to have longer dates in order to
get to know them better. Speed dating is a wonderful invention for people
who just don't have the time for getting out and meeting people, as well
as for people who are tired of going on dates with people that they barely
know, only to find out that the person isn't at all what they are looking
for.
Speed dating puts an emphasis on first impressions. It is a very organized
event that is usually attended by professional singles or even singles with
a specific interest, and it takes place at a certain time, on a certain date,
and in a certain place. While the event may last for several hours, the dates
only last for a few minutes - anywhere from three minutes up to fifteen minutes.
During this short date, you share information about yourself with another
person, and they share information about you. There may be a list of questions,
provided by the host of the event, that you are to ask. When the buzzer or
bell sounds, you move on to your next scheduled date, and repeat the process
again, and this continues until the event is just about over. There may even
be different levels of rounds, for elimination purposes, where you narrow
down your choices, get more information, and narrow down your choices even
further.
When you register for the event, you are given a score card and an identification
tag. The identification tag may have your first name, and an identification
number. You mark your score card after each round, and at the end of the
event, you usually take your score card home with you. The next day or later
that evening, you login to the speed dating hosts website, and indicate the
person or people that you would like to meet again. The system then looks
for matches - a match happens when two people both indicate that they would
like to meet each other again. At that point, you can then communicate with
that person to arrange a traditional date in the future.
With speed dating, you can meet anywhere from ten to fifty new people in
a single evening, and have the opportunity to get to know a little bit about
them. You don't have to rely on a photo. You don't have to rely on a friend's
recommendation. You meet them yourself and draw your own conclusions about
them. You can avoid long, boring dates with people that are unsuitable with
you.
Unfortunately, speed dating isn't available everywhere. You can typically
find speed dating services in large cities, however. All-in-all, that is
really the only disadvantage. Another problem, however, could be that there
aren't enough participants, if a service isn't popular, or there isn't enough
interest in your area.
If you want to give speed dating a try, simply use the Internet search engines
to find speed dating services that hold events in your area. They are often
referred to as speed dating clubs. You can register with the club online,
and you will be asked to RSVP for events held in your area. There are fees
involved. If you join the club, the fee is lower, but you can usually participate
in the events, as a non-member, if you are willing to pay a costlier fee.
